Sunroof, cleaning drains

The sunroof is not meant to be 100 % water proof. There are 4 drains, one in each corner of the roof, that collect and remove water from the sunroof assembly.

The front drains are clearly visible when the roof is open, each one is a rubberized plastic tube running down the A pillar and exiting between the door and fender. These two can easily be cleaned by threading through something fairly rigid. Use some heavy weed trimmer cord as this has less chance of rupturing the hoses than a piece of metal wire. 540010.gif (29196 bytes)
The rear drains are not so easy to access. They are at the very rear of the roof and run down the C pillars and exit at the air outlets behind the rear bumper side extensions. To get better access to the rear drains, you can remove the sunroof lid.

Pour a small amount of water on either side of the open sunroof and watch for puddles to form at each corner of the car. If any corner is dry, you have a blocked drain.
