Alternator, disassemble and assemble.Remove alternator Remove voltage regulator Lock pulley in place and remove nut from shaft. Pulley components come off in the following order, and must be installed in the same order : Nut, lock washer, regular washer, outer pulley half , inner pulley half, large washer, fan. Mark housing sections for re-assembly orientation by drawing a line down the complete side of the alternator. Remove screws securing housing halves and separate. Remove bearing cap screws from around shaft where fan was mounted. Take off the end cap. Inside the rear housing, remove the 3 screws retaining the diode plate. On the back of the rear housing, unplug the capacitor and remove the nuts on the two posts that you removed the wires from. Remove the diode plate with stator coil. AssemblyCheck or replace alternator bearing Check or replace diode plate Inspect condition of insulating sleeves and washers on rear of diode plate, for electrical connections. Replace if necessary.
