Brake lines replaceMetal linesMetal lines are not available in finished form. BMW dealers can supply you with straight sections of line, which have to be bent to match the original line. Remove the line to be replaced and use a pipe bending tool to bend the new pipe to match. If the pipe must be shortened, cut the pipe and install a new flare with a flaring tool. Ensure the fitting is on correctly before flaring the pipe. Follow manufacturers instructions for use of pipe bending, cutting and flaring tools. Flexible hosesIf possible, remove brake fluid from reservoir to lessen mess. Break loose hose at caliper and line where it enters hose at upper end. Remove metal line from hose, remove retaining clips on hose and unscrew hose from caliper. Do not twist hose on installation. Tighten hose to 14.2 Nm ( 10ft lbs.) on caliper before inserting metal line into top of hose. Bleed system |
